CHOOSE YOUR KIND OF SOURCING DAY

Where to thrift in Omaha: choose the shopping model first

Jump to stores & map ↓

For a clothing-focused day, start with Benson and Dundee or compare two vintage shops. For by-weight buying, make the outlet your main stop and add a curated shop only if you have time. These choices separate the work of sorting donated goods from browsing a selected assortment; neither format establishes a resale margin.

Old Market & Little Bohemia

Flying Worm is at 1125 Jackson Street, Suite 2 in the Old Market. Its longer published hours make it an option after an earlier-closing shop. The separate Little Bohemia shop, 1404 Collective, remains on the map, but its current full schedule was not confirmed in this review; it is not included in the ready-to-use pairs.

Benson & Dundee

Tip Top on Maple Street is a volunteer-run thrift shop supporting Youth Emergency Services. Albany and Avers on Underwood Avenue offers curated vintage, preowned and secondhand women’s apparel. Their shopping models differ even when you visit both in one trip.

The outlet option

Goodwill’s outlet at 4115 S 72nd Street uses by-weight pricing and does not accept donations. Treat it as a separate type of sourcing stop, with time to inspect each piece and account for weight before buying.

START WITH A SHORTLIST

Trips you can make your own

These are starting points, not timed or optimized routes. Check each shop’s current hours, then change the order or remove stops. Opening a shortlist does not replace your saved trip.

2 stops

Dundee and Old Market vintage

Compare curated apparel at Albany and Avers with Flying Worm in the Old Market. Pick one category to study, photograph identifying labels with permission, and compare condition and total resale costs before buying. This is a drive between neighborhoods, not a walking loop.

Friday noon-5pm, Saturday 11am-5pm or Sunday noon-5pm are shared published windows. Albany and Avers closes first; Flying Worm stays open later. Check date-specific exceptions.

By-weight outlet and curated clothing

Start at the Goodwill Outlet on South 72nd Street, then compare the selected clothing at Albany and Avers. At the outlet, weigh the purchase and inspect every piece. At the vintage shop, judge whether the asking price leaves room after your selling costs. Different buying models mean different inspection workloads.

  1. Goodwill Outlet - Omaha, NE4115 S 72nd St, Omaha, NE 68127
  2. Albany and Avers - Omaha, NE5011 Underwood Ave, Omaha, NE

Use Friday noon-5pm, Saturday 11am-5pm or Sunday noon-5pm for both stops. These are opening-window overlaps, not enough time guaranteed to finish both. The outlet does not accept donations.

Before you buy or bring items in

The Goodwill Omaha locator lists the outlet separately from regular retail branches and publishes its by-pound pricing. Check the current rate and any category exceptions with the outlet before calculating a buying limit. Do not apply an outlet rule to every Goodwill store.

Shopping, donating and selling to a shop are different activities. 1404 Collective links separate open-buying and vendor information. Read the applicable process before bringing inventory. Shop hours alone do not establish that intake is available.

For clothing, compare the exact label, fabric, construction, measurements and condition. For household goods, check completeness, damage and packing costs. Bring the sourcing checklist and use the profit calculator before committing to a purchase.

For clothing, leave out pieces whose fabric, wear or size you cannot evaluate. For bulky home goods, work out transport before paying. A low weight-based ticket still has to cover inspection, cleaning, storage and listing work. Use the editable trip rather than crossing the city to collect every possible stop.

Practical questions for this trip

Which Omaha thrift or vintage stops work on Sunday?

The outlet and vintage-comparison shortlists have a published Sunday overlap of noon-5pm. Tip Top is Thursday-Saturday only, so use the Benson-Dundee pair on Friday or Saturday.

Does the Omaha map include Council Bluffs and every suburb?

This guide filters to Omaha addresses. Use the full directory for Bellevue, Papillion, Council Bluffs and other nearby communities. Check the actual address before assuming a stop is in the same part of the metro.

Are these the best stores for guaranteed flips?

They are sourced starting points, not a profitability ranking. A curated vintage price may leave little room for resale, while a low thrift price can still be too high for an incomplete or damaged item. Current comparable sales and total costs should determine the buy.

FROM SOURCING TO SELLING

Keep neighborhood comparisons practical

Choose a pair that matches your buying model

Pick donated thrift plus curated apparel, two vintage shops, or the by-weight outlet plus apparel. Each shortlist has a published overlap; keep the earlier-closing shop and the drive between neighborhoods in mind.

Compare value across store types

Use the profiles to distinguish thrift from curated vintage. A higher ticket can still be worth researching, while a cheap item can become expensive after repairs or shipping. Compare the exact item and condition before setting a buying ceiling.

Make a travel purchase easy to identify later

Keep receipts and item costs together during the trip. Record identifying details and flaws before packing purchases away, then assign storage locations when you return. A clear intake record helps you move from a sourcing day to a reviewable listing batch.

Keep planning with the free profit calculator, condition-notes guide and printable sourcing checklist. Clothing sellers can also use the research library before buying.
