Grand Avenue & Roosevelt
Pair Funky Finds on Grand Avenue with WORN at the Shops at Roosevelt on 42nd Street. Compare vintage and retro pieces with a clothing resale stop. They are separate stops; use directions between them.
THE SOURCING DIRECTORY
Choose a vintage-and-resale pair, a western metro outing, south-side charity thrift, or a retail-versus-outlet comparison. Four editable shortlists help you keep a Des Moines sourcing day focused.

A mixed sourcing day gives you different ways to compare an item. A curated vintage shop can help you study a style or construction detail; a thrift store offers a different shopping model. Neither model guarantees resale margin. Start with the categories you can identify and inspect, then leave time to research the exact item.
Pair Funky Finds on Grand Avenue with WORN at the Shops at Roosevelt on 42nd Street. Compare vintage and retro pieces with a clothing resale stop. They are separate stops; use directions between them.
Many Hands in Clive and WORN at West Glen give you a thrift-and-resale comparison across the western metro. Branch-specific hours matter, especially on Sundays.
Animal Lifeline on SW Ninth Street and St. Vincent de Paul on Army Post Road form a charity-thrift pair. Goodwill’s outlet is a separate SE Fourteenth Street stop. Choose the shopping model first rather than treating the whole south side as one quick circuit.
START WITH A SHORTLIST
These are starting points, not timed or optimized routes. Check each shop’s current hours, then change the order or remove stops. Opening a shortlist does not replace your saved trip.
Start with Funky Finds, then compare your clothing research at WORN’s Roosevelt location. Use the visit to inspect labels, construction and condition before deciding what fits your selling model.
Wednesday–Saturday have overlapping published shopping hours. Funky Finds opens at noon; Roosevelt closes earlier, including 4:30 pm Saturday. Reorder if your starting point or available time calls for it.
Open vintage shortlistCompare Many Hands’ Clive thrift location with WORN at West Glen. Keep a short buying list and allow time to inspect garments and compare delivered sold prices.
For Sunday planning, Clive lists 1–5 pm and West Glen lists noon–3 pm for shoppers. West Glen may need to come first. Check current exceptions before leaving.
Open western metro shortlistCompare Animal Lifeline’s donated goods with St. Vincent de Paul on Army Post Road. Allow a separate drive, and inspect an item before paying rather than assuming a return or store credit will be available.
Wednesday–Saturday is the overlap. Animal Lifeline lists 10am–5pm and St. Vincent Monday–Saturday 9am–6pm. Animal Lifeline is closed Sunday–Tuesday; the full pair does not work those days.
Open south-side Des Moines shortlistCompare the East Euclid Avenue retail branch with the SE Fourteenth Street outlet. This crosses the city, so treat it as a comparison of shopping models rather than a compact neighborhood route. Reorder or choose just one if inspection time is limited.
The operator’s locator lists both addresses with Monday–Saturday 9am–9pm and Sunday noon–5pm. Confirm current outlet access, pricing and any rotation rules with the outlet; a retail branch’s policies do not establish an outlet’s rules.
Open Des Moines retail–outlet shortlistShopping and drop-offs are separate decisions. WORN’s locations page currently carries an intake-capacity notice and identifies West Glen Sunday hours as shopping only. Review current intake instructions before bringing a bag of clothing.
Animal Lifeline lists shopping until 5 pm and donations until 4:30 pm Wednesday–Saturday. It also says merchandise is not held. Arrange large donation loads in advance and check holiday exceptions.
Before paying, identify the line, fabric and style; inspect closures, seams and flaws; and compare current sold items in similar condition. Use the clothing research library and profit calculator to turn the research into a buying limit.
St. Vincent’s south-side location lists donation hours Monday–Saturday 9am–5pm, shorter than shopping. Its policy says no returns or in-store credits and allows electronics to be tested. Ask about testing and pickup deadlines before buying.
For another western-area charity-thrift stop, the Windsor Heights St. Vincent is at 801 73rd Street. Its operator lists Monday–Saturday 9am–6pm and Sunday noon–5pm. Use its profile in the map below to add it to your own trip.
Goodwill’s current Central Iowa locator identifies the East retail branch at 3251 East Euclid Avenue and the outlet at 6345 SE Fourteenth Street. Verify the exact branch and shop type before applying a promotion, intake instruction or outlet assumption.
For clothing research before leaving, use the men’s jeans guide and button-up checklist, with linked That Couple Flips videos. Evaluate the actual label, line and condition rather than buying from a broad brand average.
The western metro pair has a limited recorded overlap: Many Hands Clive 1–5pm and WORN West Glen noon–3pm. The retail–outlet pair has Sunday hours in Goodwill’s locator, subject to exceptions. The vintage pair and full south-side charity pair do not work Sunday. Saved trips do not check hours automatically.
The map below includes West Des Moines, Clive, Urbandale, Johnston, Windsor Heights, Ankeny, Grimes, Norwalk and Indianola as well as Des Moines. Use addresses to choose one area instead of assuming the entire metro is a compact route.
This guide does not have a comparable local price survey or verified restock calendar. Judge the actual item, its condition and the current store terms. Ask staff about a specific promotion before budgeting around it.
No. The map spans Des Moines and surrounding communities. Choose a pair or one area; the retail–outlet comparison explicitly crosses the city. The suggested orders do not calculate driving time or guarantee parking, open doors or available stock.
FROM SOURCING TO SELLING
Start with the western metro pair, south-side charity thrift, or vintage-and-clothing comparison. These are different outings. Crossing the metro for one extra shop can reduce the time left to inspect, research and photograph the items you find.
The retail-and-outlet shortlist compares two shopping models; it is not a promise of a quick route. Set separate limits for buying, inspection and carrying capacity. Include cleaning and preparation costs before deciding that a low purchase price is a good margin.
Record cost and condition before bags get mixed together. Group items into a photo batch, keep the measurements with each item, and assign a storage location before publishing the listing. Research uncertain pieces separately so they do not hold up the rest.
Keep planning with the free profit calculator, condition-notes guide and printable sourcing checklist. Clothing sellers can also use the research library before buying.

YOUR SOURCING DAY
Add up to 20 stops, then use Move up / Move down to set your order. Check shopping hours before heading out. Directions follow your order; they do not optimize it.
Between-stop straight-line distances use approximate map pins. Rough driving ranges assume roads add 20–60% distance, with 20–35 mph for legs under 15 straight-line miles and 35–55 mph for longer legs. These are planning assumptions, not calculated road routes. Rivers, road layouts, traffic and parking can make actual travel much longer. Excludes your journey to the first stop, return home and shopping time. Check the route and current timing in Google Maps.
Your trip is empty. Choose “Add to trip” on a store card or map pin.
Longer trips open in groups of four stops so every stop is included on phones. Your saved trip stays in this browser and does not sync across devices. In private/incognito browsing, it is removed when you close the private session. Copy the share link to keep a portable version. A shared link contains only public store IDs.
